NUTTER BUTTER TURKEY

      LESSON PLAN

Age Group: 2nd grade

Objective: To get the students to think about Thanksgiving and share some new thanksgiving traditions.

Assessment: Look around the room and make sure the class completed the activity by using all of the ingredients that were given in the ziploc. I also observed to make sure that every student created a turkey that was similar to the one shown.  The Assessment was based on participation to ensure that everyone made an effort to create a Turkey cupcake.

Activity: Students will each get one cupcake and one ziploc containing a milano cookie, 9 candy corns, a piece of fruit rollup and some chocolate chips. Students are to look at the image of the turkey cupcake on the board and try to replicate it using the ingredients they were given. 

Materials: A cupcake, 9 candy corns, a milano cookie, chocolate chips, a piece of fruit roll up.

THANKSGIVING

HANNUKAH

        LESSON PLAN

Grade: Kindergarden

Objective: Students will learn the history of the Jewish holiday Hannukah by decorating their own menorah.

Materials: Computer, projector, coloring sheets, crayons

Activity: Watch a short video; brainstorming; decorate own menorah

Assessment: Answer final questions to close the class, sharing final decoration.

We liked that we got to use our hands in this activity.

It was nice that the guidelines weren't super specific because we got to be more creative.

I wish the activity was a little healthier and was built with better food groups.
