Sound Art: Found Objects to Create Rythmic Sounds

Sound art is an artistic discipline in which sound is utilized as a primary medium. Like many genres of contemporary art, sound art may be interdisciplinary in nature, or be used in hybrid forms.

TODAY

Students went back to their groups, to then organize themselves and search for random objects to make noise. They had to come up with sounds that once played in an organized way could create harmonies. Then, they shared with each other.

Dance: Cuban Comparsa

A comparsa is a group of singers, musicians and dancers that take part in carnivals and other festivities in Spain and Latin America, specifically in the Caribbean. Its precise meaning depends on the specific regional celebration. The most famous comparsas are those that participate in the Santiago de Cuba's carnival. Havana's Carnival 1962. First Socialist Carnival in Cuba. Conga-Comparsa Dance Routine - Grupo BanRara - Havana Cuba 2013 ----------------------------------------------- Today  Students were able to learn the main steps of Cuban comparsa in celebration of the Hispanic Month. The desks were move aside to make room for the dancers. The dance was accompanied by conga music.
